A Turkish newspaper has released details of a high-level meeting of the country's military leaders, in which the Turkish government had considered sending warships into Israel as a military escort for the Mavi Marmara flotilla - and the possibility of triggering a war with the Jewish state as a result.

On May 31 2010, nine Turkish Islamists were killed on the flotilla after violently attacking IDF soldiers, during an attempt to break Israel's naval blockade on the terrorist group Hamas-enclave Gaza. The incident worsened a growing diplomatic crisis between Turkey and Israel, who had once been close allies.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman had harsh words for the 10,000 Israeli Arabs who rallied in northern Israel on Tuesday as they marked "Nakba Day", or what they view as the "catastrophe" of Israel's establishment.

The demonstrators waved PLO flags and read out the names of 530 Palestinian villages that were emptied 66 years ago, before observing a minute's silence in their memory. The ceremony mocked the Memorial Day moment of silence and reading of names, which is used in Israel to commemorate terror victims and IDF soldiers.

In response, Liberman suggested that the rioters go to Ramallah and riot there.

"I suggest that the Arabs who took part today in the 'Nakba Day' procession and waved Palestinian flags, should next time march straight to Ramallah - and stay there," wrote the Foreign Minister on his Facebook page.

Palestinian Arabs mark "Nakba Day" on May 15, the day after the Gregorian calendar date for Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day) but Israeli Arabs hold demonstrations on the same day that Independence Day is celebrated in Israel.

"Nakba Day" day is often characterized by protests and disturbances in Israel and outside it.

Hamas Marks Independence Day with Genocide Video

On Israel's Independence Day, Hamas releases an 'alternative Hatikva' calling for genocide of Israelis.

Hamas gave Israel a "gift" on its Independence Day on Tuesday, in the form of a video calling for genocide of Israelis.

The animated video, released by Hamas's so-called "military wing", the Al-Kassam Brigades, called for resistance and for committing genocide against Jews living in Israel in order to "free Palestine".

The song in the video was to the tune of the Israeli national anthem, Hatikvah, which means "the hope" in Hebrew. The Arabic words of the song twisted that message, warning that it is "the end of the hope" for Israel, that Israel was doomed, and that Jerusalem will be renamed and known by its Arab name, "Al-Quds"

Counter-extremism group Stand for Peace reports that The Middle East Monitor Online (MEMO), a pro-Hamas publication in the West, is sponsoring an event at King's College London with notorious Hamas supporter Azzam Tamimi as a guest speaker.

MOSCOW, May 7 (RIA Novosti) – Russia could deploy short-range Iskander missiles in the country's westernmost Kaliningrad region if NATO decides to strengthen its military presence in Eastern Europe, Lt. Gen. Yevgeny Buzhinsky told RIA Novosti.

"Russia is a nuclear power," he said. "If NATO becomes more active, we will deploy a division of Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad Region," added Buzhinsky, who previously headed the department of international agreements in the Russian Defense Ministry.

US Air Force General Philip Breedlove said Tuesday that NATO will consider permanently stationing troops in parts of Eastern Europe following the increased tensions over Ukraine, Reuters reported.

"I think this is something we have to consider and we will tee this up for discussion through the leaderships of our nations to see where that leads," he was quoted as saying.

Defense and foreign ministers of NATO member states as well as senior commanders are to examine the alliance's presence in Europe prior to a summit of NATO leaders in Wales this September, Breedlove said.

"I don't see any potential danger if a military conflict between NATO and Russia in Europe involving ground forces," Buzhinsky told RIA Novosti. "There is no military threat [to Russia], this is an information war," he said.

Russian interests not limited to Ukraine alone

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov went on a week-long tour of Latin America in the midst of the crisis in Ukraine. This fact alone makes one take a closer look at the tour. The minister visited Cuba, then Nicaragua, Peru and Chile. The choice of the first two countries does not raise any questions, but the last two are known as U.S. allies

A strange, soulless man and his utterly failed presidency

How vividly I remember the photos of Obama in Berlin during his campaign in 2008: streets flooded with people keen to get a glimpse of a promising young politician, expressing for us all how exhausted the world was with the most ignorant and contemptible man ever to have been a president. The sense of dignity Obama displayed in the early days is...

Canada's Ukrainian borsch has bitter anti-Russian taste

Canada ardently takes most severe sanctions against Russia, following the U.S. or even paving the way itself. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is even more categorical than his American counterpart Barack Obama. Canada is neither a global player, nor a world power, its army is weak and poorly armed. Why is Canada so strongly against Russia?
