Fatah's military wing:
"Armed resistance
until the liberation of all of Palestine"
The period of "calm has ended"
Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik
Fatah's military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, has announced they "will adhere to the option of armed resistance until the liberation of all of Palestine," the independent Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported. The expression "the liberation of all of Palestine" is a common Palestinian euphemism used to refer to the destruction of Israel.
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is also the head of Fatah and his movement's military wing stressed that the "calm has ended, as the occupation continues to kill, Judaize and settle." They urged Mahmoud Abbas not to accept US Secretary of State John Kerry's plan and not to give in to "political extortion by the Western powers." [Ma'an, March 11, 2014]
Earlier this year, Palestinian Media Watch reported that Fatah posted a video promising to "turn Tel Aviv into a ball of fire."
In a video posted on Facebook on "Fatah - The Main Page," the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades promised Israelis the following:
"We swear to you that we will turn the beloved [Gaza] Strip into a graveyard for your soldiers, and we will turn Tel Aviv into a ball of fire."

PMW has documented that throughout the current peace talks Fatah has supported a return to armed violence as a valid option alongside negotiations. A few months into the peace talks (September 2013), under the headline "Fatah - All means of struggle until statehood," the administrator of one of Fatah's Facebook pages posted three pictures showing different "means of struggle." Violence was one of them.
[Facebook, "Fatah - The Main Page," Sept. 8, 2013]
The following is the report in Ma'an on Fatah's military wing's call for armed resistance:
"The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades (Fatah's military wing) in Palestine said they will adhere to the option of armed resistance until the liberation of all of Palestine.
In a statement received by [independent Palestinian news agency] Ma'an, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades stated that the [period of] calm has ended, as the occupation continues to kill, Judaize and settle. They emphasized that the blood of the Martyrs (Shahids) will never go unavenged. They called on President Mahmoud Abbas to stand firm and reject the Kerry plan, [and said that] 'the Palestinian people with all its groups and factions stand behind you against any [form of] political extortion by the Western powers.'"

Ex-Ambassador: Time to Return to Pre-Oslo Days
Ettinger
Hezki Ezra
Yoram Ettinger, the former Israeli consul in Washington, DC, is unfazed by Mahmoud Abbas's threats to dismantle the Palestinian Authority (PA) if negotiations with Israel are discontinued.
Ettinger says life was better before the Oslo accords. He thus welcomes Abbas's threat to dismantle Palestinian Authority...
...Ambassador Ettinger told Arutz Sheva that Abbas is well aware of Israel's fear of taking control of Judea and Samaria. “He knows that the Israeli leadership gets weak-kneed when faced with such declarations, and he estimates that Israel will lose its cool and announce that it cannot rule the territory, and then carry out concessions that it is not willing to carry out at present.”...
Ettinger, who thinks this Israeli trepidation is unjustified, called on Israel to immediately take responsibility for Judea and Samaria. “Until today, we have seen that all of the basic assumptions behind Oslo have been shattered in front of our eyes. A Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria is a recipe for losing the Jewish state....

France's Le Pen Attacks UK Euroskeptic over Anti-Semitism Snub
French far-right leader Marine Le Pen accused Nigel Farage of double standards Tuesday over the British eurosceptic leader's refusal to ally with her National Front (FN) party in the European Parliament.
Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), ruled out an alliance with the FN last week, saying the French party was too tainted by anti-Semitism - a reference to the convictions for hate-speech and Holocaust denial of its founder, Jean-Marie Le Pen, the current leader's father.

Russia to Build Network of Modern Naval Bases in Arctic - Putin
Russia will build a unified network of naval facilities on its Arctic territories to host advanced warships and submarines as part of a plan to boost protection of the country’s interests and borders in the region, President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.
“We need to strengthen our military infrastructure. In particular, to create in our part of the Arctic a unified network of naval facilities for new-generation ships and submarines,” the president said at a meeting of Russia’s Security Council.
He said that Russia should boost security at its Arctic borders.
Putin ordered the military in December to boost its presence in the Arctic and complete the development of military infrastructure in the region in 2014.
The Defense Ministry has already announced plans to reopen airfields and ports on the New Siberian Islands and the Franz Josef Land archipelago, as well as at least seven airstrips on the continental part of the Arctic Circle that were mothballed in 1993.
The military is also planning to form a new strategic military command in the Arctic, dubbed the Northern Fleet-Unified Strategic Command, by the end of 2014.
Putin reiterated that Russia is actively developing this promising region and should have all means for protection of its security and economic interests there.
“The oil and gas production facilities, loading stations and pipelines must be well protected from terrorists and other potential threats,” Putin said.
The Russian president called on experts to defend Russia’s territorial claims to the Arctic shelf, just like they did during this year’s successful claim to 52,000-square-kilometer area in the Sea of Okhotsk off Japan.
“Our experts must act similarly, for bilateral as well as multilateral consultations with Arctic countries’ governments, and safeguard each parcel of the continental shelf in the Russian part of the Arctic, and marine areas,” Putin said.

NATO minesweepers set off on Baltic deployment
Five NATO mine-hunting ships set off Tuesday on a deployment in the Baltic Sea, part of the alliance’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Europe’s ex-communist east as members there worry about Russia’s intentions in Ukraine.
The ships — a minesweeper and a support ship from Norway and one mine-hunter each from the Netherlands, Belgium and Estonia — left the German port of Kiel for an exercise that will continue under Norwegian command until the end of May. Germany will then take command of the deployment.
The ships will visit several Baltic ports and also participate in previously scheduled operations to dispose of ordinance from the two world wars.

Parents search for abducted Nigeria girls, say 234 missing
Parents of girls abducted by Islamist militants were searching for their daughters in a remote forest, they told the state governor on Monday, adding that 234 were still missing, a much higher figure than authorities said had been kidnapped.
Official figures put the number of abducted girls at 129 and by Saturday afternoon Borno state governor Kassim Shettima said 77 were still unaccounted for, while the other 52 had returned.
Monday’s mass abduction of teenage schoolgirls by Boko Haram from Chibok school, which the governor visited on Monday, shocked Nigeria, a nation long used to hearing about brutal attacks on civilians in the northeast.
It also underlined how powerless the military has become at protecting civilians in the areas of Africa’s most populous country plagued by the insurgency, despite a state of emergency nearly a year old that was meant to destroy it.
Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is sinful”, say they are fighting for a breakaway Islamic state in northern Nigeria…

Massive Volcanic Eruptions Wreaking Havoc On The World
As the world seems to hurdle from one crisis to another, today a 43-year market veteran warned King World News that massive volcanic eruptions are now wreaking havoc on the world. Jeffrey Saut, Chief Investment Strategist at Raymond James, also warned this trend is going to continue for many years, even though no one in the mainstream media is talking about this.
Eric King: “Jeffrey, we’ve seen skyrocketing food prices.”
Saut: “This has a lot to do with the weather. You’ve had a drought in Brazil, so the price of Brazilian coffee is up over 80% year-to-date. I know a farmer in California who used to produce a bunch of alfalfa. He’s about to lose his entire crop because he can’t get water….
“You also have a drought in Texas. One of my themes, Eric, has been the weird weather. The world is actually cooling, not warming. What’s causing this is the volcanic ash in the air. You’ve got more volcanic ash in the air than at any time in recorded history.
