BREAKING CASE NEWS: Christian nursery nurse sacked for saying marriage is between a man and a woman

A Christian nursery nurse has been sacked for gross misconduct from her job in a London children's nursery after explaining the Bible's teaching on homosexuality in response to a question from her colleague.
Sarah Mbuyi had worked at Newpark Childcare in Highbury, London, since April 2013. She became good friends with a gay colleague and they had frequent conversations about the meaning of Christianity.
The incident
In January 2014, the colleague initiated another conversation with Sarah about Christianity. She said she was unhappy that she couldn't marry her female partner because of the church, and said she thought that God condoned homosexuality.
Miss Mbuyi explained: "When I said no God does not condone the practice of homosexuality, but does love you and says you should come to him as you are, she became emotional and went off to report me to my manager.
"I never ever condemned her, or accused her, but when she asked me directly what I believed, I was open about sharing the Bible's teaching that homosexual sex (not the people) is wrong. It's clear that this offended her and she was determined to get me sacked, simply because I expressed traditional Christian beliefs."
The dismissal
After a one-sided disciplinary hearing in which Sarah was falsely accused of starting the discussion on homosexuality, nursery directors dismissed her immediately for gross misconduct.
The implications
Sarah's dismissal suggests her employers think that expressing Christian beliefs is a legitimate grounds for dismissal. This is clearly an issue of deep concern for Christians in the workplace across the UK.
Andrea Williams, CEO of the Christian Legal Centre, said:
"Sharing Biblical truths out of genuine love and concern for colleagues is being outlawed in the workplace by a dominating cultural correctness. There is a culture of fear which closes down freedom of speech and the manifestation of faith. This culture brands the liberating good news of the Gospel as oppressive and regressive.
"Sarah's case demonstrates the confusion we're experiencing in current times. David Cameron has given public recognition of the enormous positive impact that Jesus Christ has had on our nation but he wants to mould Christianity to his political agenda. History shows that Christianity is greater than any political agenda.
"David Cameron has ignored the concerns of the Christian community by driving through same-sex 'marriage'. Any dissent in the public space, in the workplace, to the new prevailing orthodoxy means punishment as Sarah is experiencing.
"This is not a Government with a track record of recognising and respecting Christian faith. It has deliberately and consistently undermined Christians and their freedom to live out their faith in the public square.
"The Prime Minister has huge influence. If he is serious in his support for Christianity, he will intervene in Sarah's case and ensure that those who believe in marriage, as defined in the bible, between one man and one woman, will not lose their jobs but be wholly and properly protected by the law.
"This government has seriously let down the Christian community. Easter statements of sentiment will not suffice. Consistent behaviour is what will be believed."
The way forward
Sarah did what any faithful Christian would do — she spoke the truth in love in response to what she thought was a genuine question about her faith.
The Christian Legal Centre is helping Sarah claim unfair dismissal on grounds of religious discrimination. This isn't just about the rights of one individual Christian, it's about the freedom to speak of Jesus and make Him and His Truth known in the workplace and elsewhere in public life.
People in workplaces across the UK need to hear the good news about Jesus so it's vital that we protect this freedom.
Christians need not to fear and need to continue to share the Gospel.
If you believe we should have the freedom to share the Gospel at work, please support us by making a donation today so that we can keep helping Sarah and others like her.

Eric Pickles challenged to back up "Christian country" claims
April 8th, 2014 | Religious Freedom
Christian Concern has asked Eric Pickles to give evidence against his own Government Department after his recent comment that Britain is a "Christian nation".
Dr Scott, a Christian GP from Margate, Kent, with 28 years experience as a doctor, has been issued with an official warning and is currently under investigation by the General Medical Council following a complaint that he shared his faith with a patient during a consultation.
Colin Atkinson, a van driver, was asked to remove his palm cross he had displayed for fifteen years from the dashboard of his Housing Association vehicle by Wakefield District Housing (WDH) following a complaint. Mr Atkinson was under threat of disciplinary action for refusing to comply.
In 2008, experienced foster carers Eunice and Owen Johns applied to foster a child in Derby but their application stalled because of their Christian sexual ethics.
Lesley Pilkington, a counsellor, was secretly recorded by an undercover journalist during a counselling session. The journalist was a homosexual man who deceived her into believing that he wanted counselling for unwanted same-sex attraction. Mrs Pilkington confirmed that she would be happy to meet with him but only within a Christian counselling context and he agreed.
Gary McFarlane, a relationship counsellor from Bristol, was dismissed for gross misconduct by Relate after he refused to confirm that he would provide directive sex therapy to homosexual couples due to his religious beliefs. Mr McFarlane had never refused to provide sex therapy to a 'live couple' but had told his managers that if the issue arose he would discuss it with them.
Kwabena Peat, a Christian teacher, was suspended after he sent letters to other staff members complaining that a staff training day was used to promote homosexual rights, and to marginalise and label those who disagreed with homosexual practice. Following intervention by the Christian Legal Centre, Mr Peat was reinstated but was the recipient of continuing harassment since returning to work.
Dr Sheila Matthews was dismissed from her role on the local authority's adoption panel after requesting to refrain from voting when homosexual couples were being considered by the panel as potential adoptive parents. Dr Matthews resigned from her job as a paediatrician and brought a claim against Northamptonshire County Council on the grounds that she had been discriminated against because of her faith.
Caroline Petrie, a nurse from Weston-super-Mare, was suspended without pay for asking a patient whether she would like to be prayed for. North Somerset Primary Care Trust suspended Mrs Petrie even though the patient in question was not offended. The incident was reported by a nurse who visited the same patient the day after Mrs Petrie had offered prayer.
Duke Amachree, a homelessness prevention officer for Wandsworth Council, was suspended after suggesting to a client who was suffering from an incurable illness that doctors did not have all the answers, and for asking her whether she had tried putting her faith in God. He was then later sacked for gross misconduct.
Shirley Chaplin, an NHS nurse, was faced with disciplinary action after being told that she was no longer permitted to wear her cross while at work on health and safety grounds. The NHS Trust indicated that they would permit exemptions in their uniform policy for religious and cultural symbols that were 'mandatory' within the religion.

Iran's Ali Akbar Salehi's offer Saturday, April 19, "to redesign" the controversial Arak reactor to produce one-fifth of the plutonium initially planned was a piece of misdirection. debkafile reveals that Tehran has secretly smuggled 1,300 kilos of low-grade uranium to Parchin, the military facility barred to inspectors, and installed there 1,630 banned advanced centrifuges for their rapid upgrade in secret to 20 percent enrichment. The IAEA was deceived into reporting that Iran had left itself with "substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium needed for a nuclear warhead."

The most terrifying aspect of the collapse of US power worldwide is the US's indifferent response to it.
In Europe, in Asia, in the Middle East and beyond, America's most dangerous foes are engaging in aggression and brinkmanship unseen in decades.
As Gordon Chang noted at a symposium in Los Angeles last month hosted by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, since President Barack Obama entered office in 2009, the Chinese have responded to his overtures of goodwill and appeasement with intensified aggression against the US's Asian allies and against US warships.
In 2012, China seized the Scarborough Shoal from the Philippines. Washington shrugged its shoulders despite its mutual defense treaty with the Philippines. And so Beijing is striking again, threatening the Second Thomas Shoal, another Philippine possession.
In a similar fashion, Beijing is challenging Japan's control over the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea and even making territorial claims on Okinawa.

Syrian Jihadis 'Take Aim' at Christian Toddler
April 22, 2014 by Raymond Ibrahim 3 Comments
Atrocities committed by the Ottoman Empire revisited on Christians.
When it comes to Muslim persecution of Christians, increasingly the past is a blueprint to the present.
According to Sham Times and other Arabic websites, jihadi social media networks posted the above picture of a child sitting on the ground while surrounded by armed men pointing their rifles at him. The caption appearing with the picture, purportedly posted by a supporter of the Free Syrian Army, is "Our youngest hostage from among the hostile sects of Kessab."
Kessab is a predominantly Christian Armenian village in Syria near the Turkish border. Earlier it was invaded by jihadis, who terrorized, pillaged churches, and prompted some 2000 residents to flee. Initial reports had stated that about a dozen families remained as hostages.
Since the picture appeared on Arabic social media, many have expressed shock and outrage, condemning the Syrian "rebels," while others cast doubt on the authenticity of the picture.
Of course, those wondering what the jihadis have to gain from taking such a picture and making it public would do well to remember that these are the same "rebels" who decapitate people and wave their severed and bloodied heads in front of cameras while smiling; these are the same "freedom fighters" who literally eat their victims on camera.
Surely "teasing" an infidel toddler – a subhuman – with their rifles and sharing it with their sadistic comrades via the Internet for a "laugh" should not be too surprising?
Nor is such behavior unprecedented. All one need do is consider the following excerpt based on real events from Fyodor Dostoyevsky's classic work, The Brothers Karamazov, to appreciate how the present mirrors the past:
These Turks took a pleasure in torturing children, too; cutting the unborn child from the mother's womb, and tossing babies up in the air and catching them on the points of their bayonets before their mothers' eyes. Doing it before the mothers' eyes was what gave zest to the amusement. Here is another scene that I thought very interesting. Imagine a trembling mother with her baby in her arms, a circle of invading Turks around her. They've planned a diversion: they pet the baby, laugh to make it laugh. They succeed, the baby laughs. At that moment a Turk points a pistol four inches from the baby's face. The baby laughs with glee, holds out its little hands to the pistol, and he pulls the trigger in the baby's face and blows out its brains. Artistic, wasn't it? By the way, Turks are particularly fond of sweet things, they say.

Palestinian peace offering: a murderous attack during Passover.
President Obama has described Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas as "somebody who has consistently renounced violence." Just the opposite was on full display once again last week. An Israeli father was killed and his pregnant wife and child were injured in a Palestinian terrorist shooting attack, as the family members were on their way to a Passover Seder on April 14th.

Dangerous self-restraint
In Israel Hayom, Dan Margalit published a piece entitled "A distinguished police", about the police behavior during this Passover week.
That behavior can be summed up so: they closed the Temple Mount to all non-Muslims because they allowed fanatic, violent and extremist Muslim forces to infiltrate the Mount, hole up in Al-Aqsa overnight and collect lethal stones for use in the morning,
which they did and then they waved Hamas, etc. flags and banners
(you notice the souvenir police shield there in the middle?)
and when the violence started, could barely contain it and they really didn't stop it. And in response, instead of telling the Waqf officials that the Mount was off limits for a week due to the violence and instead of charging those few arrested according to the Law for the Protection of the Holy Places, they closed the Temple Mount to entry of all non-Muslims.
Thos is the logic of the Israel Police, the Minister and the Prime Minister.
What does Margalit think about all this?
Excerpts:-
Violent clashes at the Temple Mount and the Western Wall area go back to the early days of the conflict. The Holy Basin set the region ablaze on multiple occasions, even before the Arabic word intifada (popular uprising) became a household name in Israel...And this week rocks were hurled on visitors, for the umpteenth time. This will undoubtedly happen again.
This place...represents the heart of the conflict...The Muslims on the mountain have never missed an opportunity to instigate violence. The police, however, refused to be provoked this week, despite the barrage of rocks they sustained. They stood there, without being drawn in. This is what I call extreme self-discipline. Such restraint and forbearance is almost unbearable for a human being...The police made a wise decision by holding fire...The police's conduct serves Israel well. Israel wants the world to see it can accommodate all faiths in the area and wants to make sure things remain in control...The security forces at the Temple Mount should be awarded a citation, each and every one of them. As Pirkei Avot says, a hero is someone who knows how to hold back. I can't think of a better manifestation of that adage.

No one has ideas about the blood moon like World Net Daily does. The blood moon, in case you missed it last night, is a dramatic name for a lunar eclipse that briefly makes the light reflected back from the moon to earth appear red. We're going to have four such lunar eclipses in a short period of time, starting with last night's. While that's not a particularly unusual astronomical event, having theories about the blood moon "tetrad" is a great way to sell books. Enter the contributors of World Net Daily.
