Rabbi Rontzki: Our Leaders are Blind

Rabbi Avichai Rontzki, a former Chief IDF Rabbi and currently the rabbi of Itamar in Samaria, accused the state's leaders of blindly following a path of fake peace, in a statement reflecting his exasperation following the murder of IDF soldier Eden Atias – the latest in a string of terror murders that took place after "peace talks" with the Palestinian Authority began.

"Another Jew has been murdered, and to be more precise, another Jewish soldier has been murdered by an Arab terrorist," Rabbi Rontzki wrote. "And we are silent and continue our lives as if nothing happened."

"The leaders speak of peace, as a strategy that has no alternative," he wrote on his Facebook page, "and they gallop forward like blind men in the preconceived notion they have built, as the journalists of 'the state of Tel Aviv' cheer them on, without noticing those who fall along the way, "victims of peace," who are like signs that are as clear as day, that we must see the intention of Arab enemy, who incites wildly on a daily basis; who calls us, the peace-seeking Jews, pigs and apes."

Rabbi Rontzki added a pointed question: "Our complaints about the blindness of the USA and its partners, who do not see clearly the intentions of Iran – are they not in fact directed to ourselves, who fail to see that the Arabs' will is to have the state of Israel annihilated, and that the whole current move to negotiate is part of the 'strategy of stages'...?"

The rabbi asked: "Is the release of murderers from their prison not the direct cause of these murders? A nation that releases the murderers of its women and children, loses its moral backbone, which is the rock of its existence."

"The obsession with 'realism,' as if that is all there is, without noticing the growing erosion of our national dignity, the insults we have to put up with in refraining from avenging Jewish blood that is spilled, is a strategic mistake and a basic misunderstanding of the essence of the norms by which the nation of Israel lives."

The Stages Plan that the rabbi refers to was adopted by the PLO in 1974. It calls for the gradual annihilation of Israel in stages, which include the establishment of a Palestinian Authority in part of Israel, from which the rest of the war is to be staged.

Abu Ubaida, spokesman of the Al-Qassam Brigade, military arm of Hamas which rules Gaza, said "we're ready for the next battle." The statement came just before the latest Gaza clash broke out Thursday afternoon.

According to Ubaida, Hamas is working to develop new methods to surprise and attack "the Zionist enemy."

The new battle appears to be knocking on the door, as Gazan terrorists opened rocket and mortar fire on Israel Thursday, eliciting an IAF airstrike which took out two concealed rocket launchers.

Speaking about the IDF's Pillar of Defense counter-terror operation, Ubaida claimed it was a success amid the ongoing battles with Israel.

You want the real truth? The Americans are worn out. Going to Geneva is an effort to postpone the end, so that a nuclear Iran doesn't emerge now, on Barack Obama's watch, but immediately afterward. But what the Americans haven't taken into account is: Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey and Israel. These countries now feel cheated, betrayed and threatened. (Ha'aretz)

Senate Republicans are strongly rejecting a White House plea for a delay in a new round of economic sanctions against Iran. After a classified briefing on Wednesday by top administration officials, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said, "The pitch was very unconvincing. It was fairly anti-Israeli."

Today, Iran has accumulated six bombs worth of enriched uranium; has produced close to 19,000 centrifuges, including more than a thousand of the next generation of IR-2 centrifuges which may be five times as efficient as their IR-1 predecessors; and is building a heavy-water plant capable of yielding plutonium.
We should make clear that we have a number of absolute requirements for any nuclear end-state agreement: Iran must dramatically reduce the number of centrifuges, ship out essentially all of its enriched uranium and, at a minimum, convert its heavy-water plant into a light-water reactor. According to the public statements of Iranian leaders, what Tehran really wants is "civilian nuclear energy." What the rest of the world wants is the confidence that Iran will not possess the capacity to produce nuclear weapons. These two demands can be reconciled by the following formula: nuclear electricity, yes; uranium enrichment, no. Iran could be permitted to operate a civilian nuclear reactor for the production of electricity and medical purposes, but it should agree to buy its nuclear fuel rods elsewhere.

The U.S. sees the initial agreement with Iran in Geneva as a prelude to serious negotiations on the final agreement. Israel believes that the relaxed sanctions are significant and may even lead to the dissolution of the sanctions regime altogether. Moreover, Israel is deeply concerned that the P5+1 will not reach any final agreement at the end of six months and that the initial agreement will become a permanent agreement. Maj. Gen. (ret.) Amos Yadlin is a former chief of Israeli defense intelligence and director of INSS. (Institute for National Security Studies-Tel Aviv University)

Mark Dubowitz, the executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday:

    • The U.S. administration seemed ready to give tens of billons of dollars in irreversible sanctions relief, in addition to the unilateral sanctions relief by blocking new Congressional sanctions, in exchange for the promise of reversible nuclear concessions that do not roll back or freeze enough of the critical elements of Iran's military-nuclear infrastructure.

Egypt's ousted president, Mohammed Morsi, accused military chief Abdel-Fattah al Sisi of treason on Wednesday and said Egypt won't be stable until he is returned to office. It was his first message addressing the Egyptian public since he was removed from office in a military coup on July 3 and appeared to be an appeal to his supporters to take to the streets again. "This coup is over....It is falling apart and will fall in th e face of the Egyptian people's resilience," Morsi's statement said.

Israel is the Key to Life
Just Look At Us Now's picture

Michael Ordman highlights Israel's latest achievements in the fields of technology, health, business, co-existence and building the Jewish State.

World leaders should let Israel concentrate on its mission of providing technology to save lives rather than trying to impose suicidal political deals on our tiny country.  Last week’s positive news from the Jewish State contained a record number of Israeli initiatives and innovations with the potential to save billions of lives.

Arik Dayan, CEO of Israel’s Amiad Water Systems, explained that Israel’s wastewater recycling expertise is essential in order to increase crop yields by 50% within two decades and feed the 8.3 billion people who will inhabit the world.  His exact words were “Filtration will ensure that life as we know it continues.”

Two other Israeli companies were simultaneously contributing their vital efforts to achieve this goal.  Israeli drip-irrigation pioneer Netafim is leading the United Nations FIGARO project - an international consortium to develop new precision irrigation management technologies to increase water availability for Europe’s water-intensive crops. Meanwhile, several Dutch water and paper industry companies are about to test the groundbreaking wastewater recycling system from Israel’s Applied CleanTech, which is planned to be implemented across the Netherlands and provide huge environmental benefits.

Cheering a new ‘I Hate Israel Handbook’
    The Warped Mirror's picture

How the world sees Israel -- comments and analysis by a contemporary historian.

Coinciding with last weekend’s 75th anniversary of the “Kristallnacht” pogrom by the Nazis, several institutions in Berlin, including the Jewish Museum, organized an “International Conference on Current Phenomena of Antisemitism in Europe.” Given that the focus of the conference was supposedly on “current” manifestations of antisemitism in Europe, it was not at all promising that the keynote speaker – Oxford University philosopher Brian Klug – has made a name for himself by arguing that the demonization of the Jewish state is not “necessarily anti-semitic.” And while Klug has spent much energy opposing the notion that there is a “new antisemitism” that targets Israel, he seems eager to embrace the relatively new concept of “Islamophobia.”

When critics of Klug published a dossier detailing their objections to his views, the Oxford professor immediately hinted that he might take legal action, because his “attorney…confirmed that the dossier is defamatory.” That left me wondering if Klug (and his attorney, of course!) feels there is anything “defamatory” about the fact that he is being enthusiastically defended and cheered on by a site like Mondoweiss, which has often been accused of publishing antisemitic material.

In recent weeks, one of the biggest stories at Mondoweiss was the publication of a new book by Max Blumenthal, one of the site’s heroes. As one critical reviewer elsewhere noted, Blumenthal’s “Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel” is really a “I Hate Israel Handbook” brimming with implicit equations of Israel with Nazis, which “could have been published by the Hamas Book-of-the-Month Club (if it existed) without a single word change once it’s translated into Arabic.”

Unsurprisingly for those of us who are less sophisticated about antisemitism than Brian Klug, there is a big market for a new “I Hate Israel Handbook.” The Israel-haters at the Electronic Intifada jubilantly announced that the book was at one point “the number one seller on Amazon.com in the category of Israeli history.” So perhaps we can imagine that just as Brian Klug shared his thoughts on “Current Phenomena of Antisemitism” with his audience at the Berlin conference, some Mondoweiss (and Brian Klug) fans and other Israel-haters were savoring Blumenthal’s screed – and perhaps they even happened to read the chapters on the Israeli-run concentration camp and the Israeli-perpetrated Kristallnacht?

The Guardian – Edward Snowden Case: Guess Who Believes in Surveillance?

    Paul Austin Murphy - americanthinker.com,  November 13th, 2013

Alan Rusbridger, the editor of the UK's main leftist/'progressive' newspaper, the Guardian, will face questioning over his newspaper's publication of Edward Snowden's leaked documents, which were taken from the UK and U.S. security services. Rusbridger will give evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee in December.

In terms of detail, the Guardian published information about how British security agencies monitor communications. The Guardian has of course said that the information it published is for the public good. It has also claimed that it is fighting against the 'surveillance society' and the British Government's abuse of power. That is mainly hyperbolic rubbish. The Guardian, or at least most of its journalists, actually believe in state-surveillance if the right people are being surveyed; just as it believes in censorship if the right people are being censored. (It also believes in the restriction of free speech if the right people are being restricted.) In this instance, the wrong people -- the ones being monitored by the UK's security services -- were Muslims and, perhaps, a handful of Leftist activists....

    The Great Purge

Peter Farmer - Family Security Matters,  November 12th, 2013

...In 2012, Lt. Colonel Matthew Dooley, a much-decorated combat veteran and soldier with an impeccable record and fitness reports/evaluations to match, was summarily-dismissed from his post at the Joint Forces Staff College and publicly-criticized by Army Chief of Staff General Martin Dempsey for making remarks critical of Islam in his course, Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism.  The Joint Forces Staff College, which had approved the content of the course a number of years previously – came under pressure from more than fifty Muslim interest groups – recanted and fired Dooley.

Today, it is government-wide policy (including military and federal law-enforcement agencies) that educational materials must portray Islam in a favorable – even flattering – light. This edict from on-high amounts to an official whitewash of the real history of Islamic world and its relations with the Judeo-Christian civilization.

Likewise, military personnel who are not one-hundred percent “on board” with the pro-feminist and pro-homosexual agenda of the White House and its advisors are being shown the door in record numbers. The case of U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Phillip Monk illustrates the ideological fanaticism now found in the “new” armed forces. Despite his reluctance to do so, Monk was ordered by his commanding officer, a lesbian, to go on record with his views about homosexuality. A practicing Christian, Monk replied that he was against it – and was then relieved of his duties and censured by his command....

Brooklyn College to Play Host to Another Anti-Israel Event

    Zach Pontz - algemeiner.com,  November 11th, 2013

Picture of the east quad of Brooklyn College.

The City University of New York’s (CUNY) Brooklyn College is again provoking passions, playing host this week to an anti-Israel activist who many, citing his published writings, believe to be anti-Semitic.

Ben White, who describes himself as a writer, freelance journalist and researcher on his Twitter page, will give a talk Thursday, November 14th called “Israel: Apartheid not Democracy,” as part of a mini-tour of college campuses that will also include a stop at John Jay College in Manhattan. The event is to be hosted by the school’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

White has in the past compared Israel’s policies to those of Nazi Germany – classified as anti-Semitic by the U.S. State Department; once declared he can  “understand” why some people are anti-Semitic; and has served as an apologist for previous Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad’s Holocaust denial....

Guest Column: The Orient Express from Mecca to the Vatican

Reuven Berko - Special to IPT News,  November 12th, 2013

...The conference was motivated by the increasing lack of tolerance displayed by violent Islamists in their efforts to deprive the Christian sects, which until now were part of the Arab national identity, of their right to religious and physical existence in the Islamic territories of the Middle East. Syrian novelist Colette Khoury said that Syrian Christians could no longer be silent. They would no longer be the victims of the situation in Syria caused by the Islamist takeover and its political agenda. She said that the Christians in Syria would do whatever necessary to prevent the disintegration of Syria as their homeland and keep it from falling into the hands of the Islamists. She accused the United States of apathy and indifference to the fate of the Christians, who had always been a target for Islamist extermination.

In fact, the spread of Islamism throughout the Middle East has accelerated since the days of Muhammad. In the seventh century, Islamic jihad fighters overcame the Persian and Byzantine Empires, after they had exhausted one another in battle, and conquered Christian Egypt as well. The Christians remaining in the resulting Islamic Caliphate were regarded as second class citizens, dhimmis, with their rights, especially political rights, restricted and paid taxes no Muslim had to pay (jizya), retaining that status for hundreds of years.

The Crusades temporarily bolstered the position of the Christians in the Middle East, once Jerusalem had been liberated from Islamic occupation. However, the Crusader state was abandoned by its supporters after less than a century and receded into the mists of Middle Eastern history. In the 12th century Saladin defeated the Crusaders at the Battle of Hattin, effectively ending European presence, and the Christians were subsequently beaten and returned to their historic status as dhimmis, dependent on the mercies of various Islamic rulers....

Military Budget Numbers Don't Add Up

    Max Boot - commentarymagazine.com,  November 12th, 2013

Two items from Politico’s Morning Defense Roundup caught my eye today.

Item 1: “As Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation became painfully clear yesterday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered the aircraft carrier USS George Washington and other Navy ships to sail for the Philippines as quickly as possible….The George Washington is carrying Carrier Air Wing 5 with nine squadrons that include strike fighters, electronic attack aircraft and – crucially for disaster relief – MH-60 Seahawk helicopters. Two Navy cruisers and one destroyer are also expected to be on station with the carrier in as soon as two days.”

Item 2: “Just when Pentagon Comptroller Robert Hale thought things could not get more uncertain and chaotic, they have. Now, he faces three very different budget scenarios for 2014, ranging from President Barack Obama’s $527 billion request for the Pentagon’s base budget to the $475 billion if sequestration is allowed to happen in January. ‘We still don’t know what fiscal ’14 is, which is an extraordinary situation,’ Hale said.”

There is a fundamental disconnect between these two news stories. The first story demonstrates that the demand for the U.S. military’s services is as great as ever and is hardly limited to war-fighting in the strictest sense. When an ally like the Philippines is hit with a natural disaster, the U.S. government naturally and rightly wants to help. How? There’s no civilian corps of disaster-response experts who can be scrambled to a faraway country at a minute’s notice. Only the U.S. military can do that....

Video: ‘We Will Fly the Islamic Flag Over the White House’

    Syria_1

A video offering a rare look at the two Al Qaeda-linked rebel groups operating in Syria offers some of the most compelling evidence yet of the involvement of western citizens in the country’s ongoing civil war - and raises fears over the threat posed by these radicalized Muslims towards western countries “the day after” the conflict.

Vice News has released footage of Westerners who have joined with Jabhat Al Nusra and the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (ISIS) to fight for Islamic rule – not only over Syria, but over Western countries.

“I say to the United States that your time will come,” says one of the men, who gives his age as 26, “and we will bleed you to death and, Inshallah [with the help of God], shall raise a flag in the White House.”

Russian lawmaker wants to outlaw U.S. dollar, calls it a Ponzi scheme

    money26_s800x781

Predicting the imminent collapse of the U.S. dollar, a Russian lawmaker submitted a bill to his country’s parliament Wednesday that would ban the use or possession of the American currency.

Mikhail Degtyarev, the lawmaker who proposed the bill, compared the dollar to a Ponzi scheme. He warned that the government would have to bail out Russians holding the U.S. currency if it collapses.

“If the U.S. national debt continues to grow, the collapse of the dollar system will take place in 2017,” said Mr. Degtyarev, a member of the nationalist Liberal Democrat Party who lost in Moscow’s recent mayoral election.

“The countries that will suffer the most will be those that have failed to wean themselves off their dependence on the dollar in time. In light of this, the fact that confidence in the dollar is growing among Russian citizens is extremely dangerous.”

The bill would partially revive a Soviet-era ban on the dollar. It would prohibit Russians from holding dollars in the country’s banks, and banks would be unable to carry out transactions in the dollar.

However, Russians still would be able to buy or sell dollars while abroad and hold dollar accounts in foreign banks.

Russia’s Central Bank and the government would be exempt from the law.
