New Docs Reveal Osama bin Laden's Secret Ties With Iran | The Weekly Standard
This week, prosecutors in New York introduced eight documents recovered in Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan as evidence in the trial of a terrorism suspect. The U.S. government accuses Abid Naseer of taking part in al Qaeda's scheme to attack targets in Europe and New York City. And prosecutors say the documents are essential for understanding the scope of al Qaeda's plotting.

According to the Old Testament in the book of
Deuteronomy (verse 15: 1, 9), it was on that day that the practice of "Shemittah" or "remission" occurred.
The Hebrew word Shemittah means to
"let fall" or "release" and refers to a day
when debt is let go and debts between
the people of Israel were forgiven.

Exclusive: TSA Issues Secret Warning on 'Catastrophic' Threat to Aviation - The Intercept
The Transportation Security Administration said it is unlikely to detect and unable to extinguish what an FBI report called "the greatest potential incendiary threat to aviation," according to a classified document obtained by The Intercept. Yet despite that warning, sources said TSA is not adequately preparing to respond to the threat.
Thermite — a mixture of rust and aluminum powder — could be used against a commercial aircraft, TSA warned in a Dec. 2014 document, marked secret [PDF here]. "The ignition of a thermite-based incendiary device on an aircraft at altitude could result in catastrophic damage and the death of every person onboard," the advisory said.

U.S. military decimated under Obama, only 'marginally able' to defend nation - Washington Times
The U.S. military is shedding so many troops and weapons it is only "marginally able" to defend the nation and falls short of the Obama administration's national security strategy, according to a new report by The Heritage Foundation on Tuesday.
"The U.S. military itself is aging. It's shrinking in size," said Dakota Wood, a Heritage analyst. "And it's quickly becoming problematic in terms of being able to address more than one major conflict."

Between 2010 and 2013, the Obama administration imported almost 300,000 new immigrants from Muslim nations — more immigrants than the U.S. let in from Central America and Mexico combined over that period.
This is a sea change in immigration flows, and it threatens national security.
Many of the recent Muslim immigrants are from terrorist hot spots like Iraq, where the Islamic State operates. From 2010-2013, Obama ushered in 41,094 Iraqi nationals from there.
Now the State Department says it will quadruple the number of refugees brought here from Syria, where IS is headquartered.
The U.S. will admit as many as 2,000 Syrian nationals by the end of fiscal year 2015, up from 525 since fiscal 2011.
Yes, the number of displaced people inside war-torn Syria and Iraq, an estimated 3 million refugees, rivals the most in Mideast history. But rolling out the welcome mat for them in the middle of a mushrooming war on Muslim terrorism is dangerously shortsighted.
Top U.S. counterterror officials say terrorists could easily slip into the country from Iraq and Syria, in spite of promised screening procedures for such refugees.
"It's clearly a population of concern," National Counterterrorism Center Director Nicholas Rasmussen testified this week.

CIA looks to expand its cyber espionage capabilities - The Washington Post
CIA Director John Brennan is planning a major expansion of the agency's cyber-espionage capabilities as part of a broad restructuring of an intelligence service long defined by its human spy work, current and former U.S. officials said.
The proposed shift reflects a determination that the CIA's approach to conventional espionage is increasingly outmoded amid the exploding use of smartphones, social media and other technologies.

Purdue News - Science on Tap to highlight breakthroughs that might change what it means to be human
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University biomedical engineering professor Jenna Rickus will headline the next Science on Tap with a discussion about advancements in biomedical science and engineering that may redefine what it means to be human in the future.
The talk, titled "Humans 2.0: Will My Grandkids Be Cyborgs?" is at 6 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 19) in the upstairs of Lafayette Brewing Company, 622 Main St., Lafayette.
The informal lecture, which is free and open to those 21 and older, is sponsored by the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and Discovery Park.
Rickus, whose work spans agricultural, biomedical and food safety applications, cites several areas of research in her discussion of the growing biomedical field, including neuroengineering, cell transplantation, tissue engineering, synthetic biology and nanotechnology.
"These relatively new fields of research are all growing, and a few are on the verge of major breakthroughs that will revolutionize medicine and change how we see the human body," Rickus said. "These advancements may even change what it means to be human."

DARPA, the Defense Research Projects Agency, is perhaps best known for its role as progenitors of the computer networking and the Internet. Formed in the wake of the Soviet Union's surprise launch of Sputnik, DARPA's objective was to ensure that the United States would avoid technological surprises in the future. This role was later expanded to causing technological surprises as well.
And although DARPA is and has been the leading source of funding for artificial intelligence and a number of other transhumanist projects, they've been missing in action for a while. Nothing DARPA has worked on since seems to have had the societal impact of the invention of the Internet. But that is about to change.
The current director of DARPA is Dr. Arati Prabhakar. She is the second female director of the organization, following the previous and controversial director Regina Dugan who left the government to work at Google. The return to big visions and big adventures was apparent and in stark contrast to Dugan's leadership of the organization.
Quoted in WIRED, Dugan had, for example, stated that "There is a time and a place for daydreaming. But it is not at DARPA," and she told a congressional panel in March 2011, "Darpa is not the place of dreamlike musings or fantasies, not a place for self-indulging in wishes and hopes. DARPA is a place of doing."
Those days are gone. DARPA's new vision is simply to revolutionize the human situation and it is fully transhumanist in its approach.
The Biological Technologies Office or BTO was announced with little fanfare in the spring of 2014. This announcement didn't get that much attention, perhaps because the press release announcing the BTO was published on April Fool's Day.
But DARPA is determined to turn that around, and to help make that happen, they held a two day event in the SIlicon Valley area to facilitate and communicate about radical changes ahead in the area of biotechnologies. Invitees included some of the top biotechnology scientists in the world. And the audience was a mixed group of scientists, engineers, inventors, investors, futurists, along with a handful of government contractors and military personnel.

In "Virtual reality a new frontier for religions," published yesterday on Hypergrid Business, I argue that massively popular virtual churches, place of worship and spiritual communities in Virtual Reality (VR) will be developed with next-generation VR systems.
The article includes quotes from Christopher Benek, Lincoln Cannon, and Robert Geraci. All three are persuaded that new VR systems with immersive interfaces like Facebook's Oculus Rift or Microsoft HoloLens could revolutionize online religion and make virtual churches accessible and appealing to multitudes of believers, and I totally agree.

Dem. Rep: Amnesty Fight Will Decide Who Controls Country for Next 30 Years - Breitbart
As Eagle Forum President Phyllis Schlafly noted, although "a Harris poll found that 81% of native-born Americans believe schools should teach patriotism,"
50% of recent immigrants do not want their children to be "taught to be proud of America."
Schlafly said that means new immigrants will be offended when conservatives emphasize patriotism and assimilation.
The Eagle Forum report concluded that, though "Republican outreach to Asian and Latino voters" is "critical," Republicans "can never turn liberal-leaning immigrants and their adult children into supporters of limited government faster than the current high level of legal immigration (one million a year) is bringing in new liberal voters."
The report found that new immigrants "and their adult children are significantly more liberal than the average American voter on a host of policy issues, including the size of government, Obamacare, affirmative action, gun control, greater environmental regulation, and other issues championed by the Left.
Calls to legalize illegal immigrants, whom Americans opposed to amnesty have referred to as "undocumented Democrats," also turn off white working-class voters. As Democrats noted in their autopsy report of the 2014 midterm elections, which curiously did not mention the impact that Obama's proposed executive amnesty had in giving Republicans back control of Congress, white working-class voters have been abandoning the party.
"In order to win elections, the Democratic Party must reclaim voters that we've lost including white Southern voters, excite key constituencies such as African American women and Latinas, and mobilize the broadest coalition of voters possible to not only recapture state houses but also Congress," the report concluded. "In order to better understand how to bring this large coalition together, the Task Force recommends — in tandem with the National Narrative Project — that the DNC's research delve more deeply into the barriers that keep people from identifying with, and supporting, Democratic candidates. This also includes working to better understand drop off and independent voters."

Three days before the Federal Communications Commission is scheduled to vote on the most significant Internet regulations in history, two commissioners are asking Chairman Tom Wheeler to delay the vote and release his proposal to the public.
"We respectfully request that FCC leadership immediately release the 332-page Internet regulation plan publicly and allow the American people a reasonable period of not less than 30 days to carefully study it," Republican Commissioners Ajit Pai and Michael O'Rielly said in a statement Monday. "Then, after the commission reviews the specific input it receives from the American public and makes any modifications to the plan as appropriate, we could proceed to a final vote." ISIS following 'end-of-days scenario'
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, is gobbling up more territory in preparation for striking Western nations, and a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer says the U.S. needs to stop underestimating the enemy and start engaging Sunnis in Iraq to stand up and fight for their homeland.
Retired Lt. Col. Scott Mann spent 23 years in the Special Forces, including 15 years of service as a Green Beret. He saw combat duty in Iraq, Afghanistan and several other spots around the world during his years in uniform. Mann points out that ISIS now controls a land area greater in size than the United Kingdom. He says the U.S. and its allies need to realize ISIS likely presents a greater threat to the West than any other group it has confronted since Sept. 11.
"These guys, in a lot of ways, are a lot more advanced than al-Qaida," Mann said. "Al-Qaida always talked about re-establishing this caliphate, but I don't think even bin Laden expected to see it in his lifetime. Whereas ISIS, not only have they established it, the caliphate is part of their legitimacy. So the expansion of this is a very real thing, and they're going to keep going."
